Lahaina has wonderful beaches. On Maui's westside, Lahaina's beaches provide ultimate sunset panoramas, fantastic whale watching during winter season, and summertime surfer swells. The silhouettes of neighbor islands across the channel, plentiful colorful fish and coral, long sandy beaches and park facilities make Lahaina's beaches great places to swim, snorkel, scuba, surf, boogie-board, kayak, sail, fish, jet ski and sunbathe!
In Hawai'i all beaches are publicly owned and accessible to everyone, however; private homes and resorts have made some spots tricky to reach. Remember to practice beach safety by always facing out to sea; watch for ocean swells coming in sets; use the buddy system; duck under breaking waves; swim across strong currents, not against them; and keep an eye on small children. Many Lahaina beaches do not have lifeguards, so listen to the locals and observe posted warning flags.
